7 Way To Engage Teens At Your Museum (p.s. it ain’t just about Snapchat)

Lightning Talk
Samantha Diamond, CultureConnect, USA

In this 7 minute Lightening Talk, we’ll walk through 7 bite-sized (but full of flavor) insights attendees can bring back to their own museum teen programs. Take-aways will be drawn from museum project case studies and audience research and user testing studies.

Creating a mobile experience targeted specifically to teens meant not only creating interpretive content that was the right balance of fun and informative, but also that the app itself was aligned with how teenagers use their smartphones and apps in their everyday lives.

Audience research studies sought to understand teen attitudes, desires, and norms that informed the app and feature design – ultimately reinventing the traditional mobile guide concept. Attendees will learn trends in teen behavior and expectations towards digital and museums – from the audience research to the experience design, content development to the aesthetic considerations.
